*his right cybernetic was lost in a lightsaber battle and he sits in the dark awaiting repairs*
:iconr2-d2plz: *the small droid rolls in and then looks at Vader, getting the feeling he knew him once before* "Beep-deet breet beep?" ("Anakin? Is that you, Anakin?")
*looks at the blue and white droid and has flashbacks to fighting the droid army above Coruscant, remembering when they first met, and how Vader (as Anakin) saved Artoo from General Grievous after a small battle in an asteroid field* "Artoo..."
:iconr2-d2plz: "Beep Deet!" ("It is you!") *shaking excitedly and pulling out Vader's dismembered hand, beginning to put it back on Vader*
*watches as Artoo works on his old master's hand* "You certainly haven't changed very much, R2.... tell me, did the Rebellion wipe your memory?"
:iconr2-d2plz: "Beep boop beet-dreet boop bwoop beet beep" ("No. I still have everything from our war all the way to now. I even still have this.") *after finishing up work on Vader's hand, Artoo shows the hologram of Padme that he always had*
*looks at the hologram with his suit breathing slowly* "Padme..." *reaches out with his hand, pretending to feel as though he were holding her like he did after being promoted to Jedi Knight during the Clone Wars* "Thank you.... Artoo."
Even C-3PO. I mean, Anakin was the one who constructed him and he didn't recognize the droid when he saw him as Vader? Well, maybe he did, but it would have been interesting to have a look at his reaction. I think something like this is present in the comic version of TESB, but unfortunately I haven't read it yet (will be the next omnibus I'm ordering).
Yeah, that always bothered me as well. I guess it would be just too awkward for the 'dark lord' to change his attitude all of a sudden. Besides I don't think 3po or R2 would even recognize him in that mask or even without the mask with his face burnt and everything. Well, I guess its time to read the comics then.
